Low heat transfer with Tufnol Rod
An advantage which is more pronounced with Tufnol Rod is the reduced heat transfer between two components. This helps to reduce associated parts becoming overheated or exposted to excessive heat.
Low moisture absorption with Tufnol Rod
Although not unique to Tufnol Rod, low moisture absorption is always an advantage because during the process of components absorbing moisture, they will often expand which can create increased friction and tightening of free running parts.
High rigidity of Tufnol Rod
This is partly unique to Tufnol Rod and mainly due to the construction methods. Because Tufnol Rod is manufactured by winding layers of laminate round a central mandrill and then crushed and finish ground, the individual wound laminates contribute to the exceptional rigidity.
Wear resistant of Tufnol Rod
As with most engineering plastics, Tufnol Rod is very resistant to wear and also provides low friction. This is an advantage when used as a bearing or designed within a moving part as it would reduce the force required to drive the component and also prolong the life of the part.
